Student Day District III

FSMTA Student Day is a non-competitive statewide evaluation program developed by Florida State Music Teachers Association to provide structured development in the areas of performance, technique, general musicianship, and written and aural theory. Levels of difficulty range from Primary through Level 12. Student Day evaluations for District III (Gainesville MTA) are held annually in early March at the University of Florida School of Music.  

 ​Registration deadline: Friday, January 31, 2025
Testing Day:  Saturday, March 15, 2025

District 3 Honors Recital: Tuesday, March 25, 2025
7:30pm at the Thomas Center
302 NE 6th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 

Performance evaluations are scheduled privately while theory exams are administered in a classroom setting. Students receive written evaluations and certificates and may be awarded FSMTA medals and GMTA trophies for their individual accomplishments. Students selected for outstanding performance evaluations, while passing written and aural theory, will perform in the FSMTA District III Honors Recital.

TEACHER INFORMATION:

Complete requirements for each instrument (piano, voice, strings, woodwinds, harp, and guitar) may be found in the FSMTA Handbook for Student Activities, which is available for download at FMTA.org.

District 3 entry fees:

• $10 per studio plus
• $25 per student in Level 0
• $30 per student in Levels 1-12
